[Nicotine withdrawal aside, he couldn't remember the last time he'd been this relaxed. He presses a kiss to Hakkai's throat before shifting slightly to lay his head against his shoulder.]

Nah, not looking to die anytime soon, thanks.

[Though honestly if there's anything he'd risk Hakkai's wrath for ... he missed smoking so much. So much. ]

[Reflexively, he finds himself shivering - not unpleasantly - at the lips against his skin. Settling back in with a quiet sigh.]

[There's just that brief flash of The Smile before he huffs out a laugh instead.] But the sooner you heal, the sooner you're back to it.

[He closes his eyes. This is pretty relaxing, really. The benefit of being the kind of guy who goes with his gut before his head means he isn't overthinking this. It feels right, and Hakkai seems to agree. Good things happen to them so infrequently that frankly he isn't willing to question this bit of luck.

He grins at Hakkai's proclamation, not surprised at all.]

Yeah? You gonna kick my ass if I do or something?

[Maybe he was an idiot coward for too long. Maybe he should have done this as soon as he saw Gojyo sauntering up to that terrible little camp in the woods. Think of how much time he'd wasted.]

He blanches, twisting to look back up at Hakkai's likely bemused face.]

[His expression shifts. Hakkai really looks happier than he'd seen him in... well, ever. It's a good look on him.

Gojyo reaches up to poke at the spot between his eyebrows, because having long limbs came in handy sometimes. He can't keep up his pout for long when Hakkai's making that face, and he's sure his looks all soft and embarrassing and shit.]

[He can't exactly pull his head back from that poke. He's laying down and all. But it's an attempt. With a little huff sound of surprise.]

[Gojyo raises an eyebrow. Really, Hakkai, you're so good at poker. How do you not know? His smile widens. He taps his forehead with a long finger.]

[ -- oh. Did he always feel this way about Hakkai looking indignant? Something warm and unfamiliar curls in his chest. He can't help it. He reaches up to brush a thumb across his cheek.]

[Yes he is. He really is. And you know the thing is, Hakkai is pale enough to show whenever he blushes. Even slightly.]

[So he's indignantly looking anywhere except at Gojyo, who can clearly read him like a book.]

[It's too much to resist. He sits up slightly -- mindful of his ribs, don't freak out Hakkai -- and hovers above him for a moment. Long red hair falls around them like a nostalgic curtain as Gojyo takes a minute to appreciate the view.]

[It's embarrassing, how easy it is for Gojyo to do this. Just fluster him by moving. By looking at him. How dare he.]

[Gojyo knows he's pretty. It's gotten him far in life. Or, well, it's kept him alive at the very least. He's used it to talk his way out of fights, charm his way into having a roof over his head, winning a round of poker and scoring a meal or two.

And now he got to use it to ruffle Hakkai's feathers.

He leans in closer, making a show of examining his cheeks. They weren't that far apart before, and now they were close enough that Hakkai should be able to feel his breath on his cheeks as he speaks. His voice is low, weighted.]

[Pulling back for air, to look up at him a little breathless...]
